The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) for December 2024 on its website.

 

CBSE will hold the CTET exam on December 1, 2024, in 20 languages across 136 cities in India at different exam centers. Anyone who wants to become a school teacher needs to take and pass this test. Eligible and interested candidates can apply.

EligibilitCriteria of CBSE CTET Exa 

The minimum education requirements for taking the CTET are set by the NCTE. Candidates should visit the NCTE website at https://ncte.gov.in to check if they meet the eligibility criteria.

 

Classes I-V or Primary Stage

 

To be eligible for the CTET, candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:

 

1. Completed Senior Secondary (12th grade) or equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or are in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

 

2. Completed Senior Secondary (12th grade) or equivalent with at least 45% marks and passed or are in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, following the NCTE Regulations, 2002.

 

3. Completed Senior Secondary (12th grade) or equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or are in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).

 

4. Completed Senior Secondary (12th grade) or equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or are in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Special Education.

 

5. Graduated with at least 50% marks and have a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree. Candidates with a B.Ed must complete a 6-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education within two years of being appointed as a primary school teacher.

 

To be eligible to teach Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage), candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:

 

1. Graduation and passed or are in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

 

2. Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or are in the final year of a 1-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

 

3. Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or are in the final year of a 1-year B.Ed, following the NCTE regulations.

 

4. Senior Secondary (12th grade) with at least 50% marks and passed or are in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).

 

5. Senior Secondary (12th grade) with at least 50% marks and passed or are in the final year of a 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.   

 

6. Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or are in the final year of a 1-year B.Ed (Special Education).

 

Any candidate who has completed a B.Ed. program recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear for the TET/CTET exam. Additionally, according to TET guidelines from an NCTE letter dated 11-02-2011, candidates currently enrolled in teacher education courses recognized by the NCTE or RCI (as stated in the NCTE notification from 23rd August 2010) are also eligible to take the TET/CTET exam.

CTET 2024 Application Fee:

All candidates must pay an application fee, which varies by category:

General/OBC: Paper I or II: Rs. 1000  Both Papers I & II: Rs. 1200

SC/ST/PWD: Paper I or II: Rs. 500   Both Papers I & II: Rs. 600

Payment Mode: The fee can be paid online using a Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking.

 

 How to Apply for CTET Examination:

Interested and eligible candidates can apply online for the CTET December 2024 exam through the official CBSE CTET portal. Follow these steps:

1.Scroll down to the Important Web-Links section.

2. Click on the Online Application Form link.

3. A new page will open.

4. Fill in all your personal and educational details as needed.

5. Upload your passport-sized photo, signature, and any other necessary documents.

6. Pay the exam fee according to your category and click the submit button.

7. Remember to print a copy of the submitted application form.

Structure of the CTET Exam

 All questions in the CTET will be Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) featuring four options, of which one answer will be the most appropriate. Each question is worth one mark, and incorrect answers will not be penalized.

 

There will be two papers on CTET.

 (i) Paper I will be for a Candidate who wants to be a teacher for classes I to V.

(ii) Paper II will be for a Candidate who wants to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.

 

 Note: A teacher seeking to teach both levels (classes I to V and classes VI to VIII) must take both papers (Paper I and Paper II).

Nature and Standard of Questions:

 

The examination will have a duration of two and a half hours.

 The test items on Child Development and Pedagogy will concentrate on educational psychology relevant to teaching and learning for the age group of 6-11 years. These items will emphasize understanding the characteristics and needs of diverse learners, effective interaction with them, and the attributes of a good learning facilitator.

 

The test items in Language I will assess proficiencies related to the medium of instruction.

 

The test items in Language II will focus on the elements of language, communication, and comprehension skills.

 

Language II must be a language distinct from Language I. Candidates may select any language as Language I and another as Language II from the available options, and they must specify their choices on the Confirmation Page.

 

The test items in Mathematics and Environmental Studies will evaluate concepts, problem-solving abilities, and pedagogical understanding and applications within these subjects. In all subject areas, test items will be evenly distributed across the various divisions of the syllabus prescribed for classes I-V by the NCERT.

 

The questions for Paper I will be based on the topics outlined in the NCERT syllabus for classes I-V, but the difficulty level and connections may extend to the secondary stage.

Nature and standard of questions:

 

The examination will have a duration of two and a half hours.

 

Child Development and Pedagogy: The questions will focus on how to teach and learn for students aged 11-14. They will cover understanding the needs and behaviors of different learners, how to interact with them, and what makes a good teacher.

 

Language I: The questions will test skills related to the language used for instruction.

 

Language II: The questions will assess language skills, communication, and understanding.

 

Language Choices: Language II must be a different language from Language I. Candidates can choose one language as Language I and another as Language II from the options available, and they must specify these choices on the Confirmation Page.

 

Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies: The questions will focus on key concepts, problem-solving skills, and teaching methods for these subjects. Both Mathematics and Science will have 30 marks each. The questions will cover different parts of the syllabus for classes VI-VIII as set by NCERT.

 

Paper II Questions: The questions will be based on the topics in the NCERT syllabus for classes VI-VIII, but they may also include more difficult material that relates to the Senior Secondary level.
